About Me

Hi I'm Kaily.

I have spent the last 13 years juggling Mom life, going to school, and juggling a teaching career. I created Teacher Mom 101 as a space to showcase the joy and insanity of the things that I love the most: my kids and my school kids!

I don't have a lot of time for hobbies. I read the occasional non-education-related book and try to sleep as much as possible, but the one thing that was missing from my life was time dedicated to my passion for writing. Blogging has filled that void in my life, and I am more than happy to lose sleep in order to make this happen.

In this blog, I hope to build a community of readers and collaborators who feel as passionate about successfully juggling being both a mom and a teacher - and we all know that it isn't easy!

I live in sunny South Florida with my husband and our 3 boys and new daughter Quin. Though I am originally from central Pennsylvania and grew up mostly outside of Washington, D.C., I love living in the sunshine and warmth of South Florida.

I teach 7th Grade Language Arts in both a sheltered ESL classroom and an intensive reading classroom. Our language arts classes are bloked, so I have 3 classes. Two of these are sheltered ESL, and the third is intensive reading.

Teaching both ESL and ESE students can be challenging because they have so many different needs and require so many different strategies - but I would not trade my job for any other! I love the challenge of helping my students and seeing their happiness when they find success.

In June of 2020, Teacher Mom 101 became Teach101. The reason for this change was that I wanted to narrow my focus on just education and teacher-related material, resources, and support. I am excited to see what the next chapter of this blogging journay holds for me!
